New Members welcome

Club History

Wells Conservative Club was established at its current address in about 1895 as Wells Constitutional Club. The name was changed in the mid-20th century.

The Club is run by a Management Committee, which meets about once a month. The Annual General Meeting is held in November of each year.

The Club has rules and bye-laws, a copy of which is displayed on the notice board at the top of the short flight of stairs. You are advised to be aware of these items. Copies of the rules and bye-laws can be supplied at a nominal cost of £1.00 if required.

Good news!! Our new steward Matthew Barkle has joined the Club.

Matthew started working in the pub trade at the age of 18 and his first management role was at Henry’s in Taunton at the age of only 21. For the last 10 years he has been managing the New Vic Bar and Restaurant on the Weymouth seafront.

Matthew has family history and roots in Wells and has relocated here with his partner, Sarah, and 2 children, Riley and Edith. He is looking forward to his new career and bringing his skills and ideas to the club.

Pop in and say hello for a warm reception and friendly conversation.

Let’s make the Club great again.
